Welcome to Martinez Elementary—where creativity, learning, and community come together every day! As the proud principal of this amazing school, I’m honored to lead a team of passionate educators committed to creating joyful, engaging, and empowering experiences for every student who walks through our doors.
I believe in transformational and servant leadership—where teams are empowered, supported, and inspired to grow. When adults thrive, students flourish. Real change happens when we stay bold, focused, and refuse to settle for “good enough.”
I believe schools should be palaces of possibility—places where every child is known, celebrated, and nurtured for exactly who they are. At Martinez, our shared vision is to ensure every student thrives not just academically, but emotionally, socially, and creatively. Together, as a unified team, we’re committed to creating the kind of school where collaboration, curiosity, and courage drive continuous growth and excellence for all.
When I’m not at school, you’ll usually find me and my husband Matt juggling life with our four amazing daughters. Most of our free time is spent carpooling between soccer fields, volleyball courts, and tennis matches. I love every minute of watching our girls do what they love, and when I do get a quiet moment, you’ll likely find me with a coffee in hand, planning our next travel adventure or getting lost in a great audiobook.
If you ever have questions, feedback, or just want to say hello, please don’t hesitate to reach out or stop by when I’m free. I’m so glad you’re part of our Mustang community!

Hello! My name is Gina Bodenhausen, and I am honored to serve as the Assistant Principal at Martinez Elementary School. I am proud to be part of such an incredible learning community and would love to share a little about myself and the journey that brought me here.
I was born and raised in Kansas City (Go Chiefs!) and come from a long line of educators. As a third-generation teacher, I was inspired from an early age to continue my family's tradition of supporting and educating young learners. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education through the University of Kansas and Emporia State University before moving to Colorado Springs to begin my career in education.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of teaching kindergarten, first grade, and fifth grade. While in the classroom, I earned my Master's Degree in Teaching and Learning with Principal Licensure from Colorado State University. Following that, I served as the Dean of Students at a large PreK–6 elementary school for four years before joining the Martinez Elementary family. Along the way, I also became a wife and the proud mother of two amazing children, who are truly the greatest joy in my life.
As Assistant Principal, I am committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential. I believe that strong relationships among students, families, staff, and the community are the foundation of a thriving school.
My experience in instructional leadership, student support, school operations, and curriculum has strengthened my belief that collaboration is essential to student success. I enjoy partnering with teachers to support high-quality instruction, using data to inform decisions, mentoring staff, and implementing practices that ensure equitable opportunities for all learners.
My leadership philosophy is rooted in integrity, collaboration, and service. I strive to lead with empathy, celebrate the unique strengths of every member of our school community, and foster a culture where students and staff feel respected, encouraged, and inspired to grow. I believe that the best leaders are lifelong learners who listen with intention, embrace innovation, and remain committed to continuous improvement.
Martinez Elementary is truly a special place, and I am grateful to be part of a school community that is dedicated to excellence and committed to helping every child succeed. I look forward to partnering with our families and encourage you to reach out anytime with questions, ideas, or concerns. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students.
