Welcome to Martinez Elementary—where creativity, learning, and community come together every day! As the proud principal of this amazing school, I’m honored to lead a team of passionate educators committed to creating joyful, engaging, and empowering experiences for every student who walks through our doors.
I believe in transformational and servant leadership—where teams are empowered, supported, and inspired to grow. When adults thrive, students flourish. Real change happens when we stay bold, focused, and refuse to settle for “good enough.”
I believe schools should be palaces of possibility—places where every child is known, celebrated, and nurtured for exactly who they are. At Martinez, our shared vision is to ensure every student thrives not just academically, but emotionally, socially, and creatively. Together, as a unified team, we’re committed to creating the kind of school where collaboration, curiosity, and courage drive continuous growth and excellence for all.
When I’m not at school, you’ll usually find me and my husband Matt juggling life with our four amazing daughters. Most of our free time is spent carpooling between soccer fields, volleyball courts, and tennis matches. I love every minute of watching our girls do what they love, and when I do get a quiet moment, you’ll likely find me with a coffee in hand, planning our next travel adventure or getting lost in a great audiobook.
If you ever have questions, feedback, or just want to say hello, please don’t hesitate to reach out or stop by when I’m free. I’m so glad you’re part of our Mustang community!

My name is Kate Kelley, and I am the proud Assistant Principal at Martinez Elementary! I was born and raised in Boston, Mass. where I received my Bachelor of Science from Suffolk University and Masters in Teaching from Tufts University before moving to Colorado with my family in 2017 and obtained my principal license from University of Colorado. I have taught in 2nd,3rd, and 5th grade, STEAM classes K-5, and have been an instructional coach. In my free time, you can find me traveling, gardening, crafting, reading outside, dining out, and at the hockey rink.
In my role as Assistant Principal, I support our students’ academic success and well-being by working closely with teachers, staff, and families. Every day looks different for me as I help ensure that our school runs smoothly each day and that every child feels seen, heard, and valued. Whether I am visiting classrooms, greeting students at the door, or problem-solving with families, my goal is to make a positive impact on our school community.
What matters most to me in education is recognizing that every child is unique, with their own strengths, challenges, and potential. It’s our responsibility as adults to help each student discover where they shine and to support them as they learn what works and what doesn’t. I believe strongly in the importance of teaching social and emotional intelligence alongside academics, because learning how to manage emotions, build relationships, and make thoughtful choices is just as vital as reading and math. I also see every mistake a child makes as a valuable learning opportunity and an essential part of growing, not something to be feared. When we create an environment where kids feel safe, understood, and encouraged, they’re more likely to thrive in school and beyond.
I believe strong communication and collaboration are key to a successful school experience. I welcome your partnership and invite you to reach out with any questions, concerns, or ideas you may have. It truly does take a village, and I am happy to be part of yours!
Nothing is too big or too small so please don’t hesitate to reach out.
